K-9 Unit

Overview

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit has canine teams trained in patrol, narcotics detection, explosive detection, and tracking. These teams are distributed between the Patrol Bureau and Special Operations Bureau, but support all bureaus within the Sheriff’s Office, as well as outside agencies when requested.

The goal of the K-9 Unit is to detect, locate, and indicate lost persons, suspects, evidence, and contraband, while increasing officer safety. The Unit conducts many demonstrations throughout the year. The largest of these demonstrations is done annually at the Calvert County Fair.
